In 1995 the senior officers of CA (then under the employ of another national student housing firm) were brought in to affect an operational rescue and turn-around of SouthGate Campus Centre (Southgate). Southgate was an ambitious but failing mixed use student housing project. The project was hemorrhaging red ink and rapidly losing its market share.
Under the direction of CA’s Executive Vice President and COO, Gary Gibson, Southgate underwent a wholesale re-engineering of her operations and marketing plan. From dining services to housekeeping, all departments and services were restructured for efficiency and customer appeal. In spite of dramatic new construction in the market, Southgate currently enjoys 100% occupancy since the operational rescue, with an annual school year waiting list.
