Campus Advantage is looking to expand its portfolio to Ithaca, New York, and introduce the award-winning Students First™ program to a new market of college students. The proposed project has received significant media coverage in Ithaca, as the project will be replacing the downtown State Street Trebloc building, which was previously a local bank branch.

The new development will offer a product unlike any other in the marketplace starting in fall 2018. The 11-story, 600-bed community will offer one-, two-, and four-bedroom units and will be highly amenitized with computer labs, study rooms, a fitness center, a game room, a social lounge area, a convenience store, and an elevated courtyard. The first floor of the property will be primarily commercial, offering residents even more convenience just steps from their front doors.

Further benefiting the community, the additional student housing supply is set to alleviate pressure on non-traditional student housing, homes in the periphery, and contribute to an availability of single-family homes that will again become available to families.

The Ithaca Journal reports that JoAnn Cornish, director of the Ithaca city planning and development department, is “excited at the prospect of having the block be utilized to its fullest potential.” With a prime location in downtown Ithaca, the property will be walking distance to both Cornell University and Ithaca College.

The project has sparked excitement in the community, with the Ithaca Voice reporting that the city is “holding the door open about as wide as it can for this site.” In 2012, the city upzoned the property, allowing for a maximum height of 11 stories, which Campus Advantage plans to fully utilize.
